friends
I'm preparing a list of my favorite people, musicians and resources. But for a little while I'm going to park a couple of funny pieces of music here to share with friends.
-------------------------------------------------------
"Imaginary Friends" will only be up for a few days at most, since it's a personal cover (not for sale!) of a song by Ron Sexsmith, the singer-songwriter I respect most. Ron's version, on his magnificent record Retriever, is a soft, mesmerizing tune that I believe is literally about childhood imaginary friends. I always heard it as being about people who don't care a whit about you but 'befriend' you in order to have fawning trophies to show off. So I did a kind of electric psychedelic pussycat swinger's club version based on the verse "they run where the action is / and they cross you off their list." I would only dare do a very wack version of a Sexsmith song -- his work is so damned intimidating. Hope you enjoy!

Two collaborations with my daughter Nevada, who was 16 at the time, frustrated with her broken guitar, yet willing to make loudness happen and laugh about it. At one point her guitar was acting like an antenna and pulling in a Christian radio station. All of this was used in our recordings.
"Vadadada" is me splicing and dicing a million little guitar noises made "in between" actual playing.
"Blitzkrieg Rest" is me on drums and Nevada on guitar, doing a rough-ass version of a Ramones classic. :)
